2017 Stockyard Collectors Auction
(1)…..a menu from the Saddle & Sirloin club. These menus each featured a picture of a different member of the Saddle and Sirloin Club. This menu features Sir Walter Gibley. Sir Walter was elected in 1891.
(2)…..An assortment of International Reviews. These are the Historical records of the International Livestock Show.
(3)…..A set of 3 laminated cartoons from the International Livestock Show.
(4)…..A binder full of International Livestock Show literature, poster stamps, Stockyard Inn mailers, correspondence from the International, 17 pages in all of memorabilia.
(5)…..A Lou Burk engraving of Angus Heather Lad 1905; Woodland Farm, Estill, Mo.
(6)…..Short-horn bull Baron Cruickshank by John W Hills. Engraved circa 1905 owned by Dustin & Prather Williamsville, IL.
(7)…..Heatherson herd of Angus cattle overall champions Illinois State Fair 1897, owned by Goodwin and Judy. Engraving by N.A. Throop.
(8)….a pair of railroad menus from the International Livestock Show; put out by the Burlington during the 30’s for visitors taking the train, touring Chicago and the International.
(9)…..21 pages of postcards from the International Livestock Show, Chicago Stockyards in a binder. Mostly from 1910—1920 era. 76 postcards in all. (Including 1 ticket from the International).
(10)…..A scrapbook of winning horses from different shows around the country.
(11)…..The fiftieth anniversary poster of the International Livestock Show. Featuring the horse and rider and 1949 by Tolson.
(12)…..The 1915 Poster from the International Livestock show as depicted in our flyer. This is one of the earliest posters we have ever sold and probably the only one extant. It has been trimmed on the bottom, but the date is recognized by the poster stamp of the same. The provenance for this poster is from the Gillette farm auction last September. The note on the back by Mrs. Gillette states that the white steer was after one of theirs at the farm. By Tolson.
(13)…..Ward Commission Co. Stockyards ticket holder. Chicago & Sioux City. A round celluloid picture of a bullhead with horses. Only one I have seen and in mint condition.

(22)….Miniature Jack Knife Ben Knife given out to the 4-H Congress as well as attendees of the 75the anniversary dinner of the Chicago Union Stockyards.
(23)…..Jack Knife Ben rooster nutter. A real neat memo of the Chicago Yards
(24)…..Jack Knife Shop rooster nutter. Also from Jack Knife Ben, but the shop items were later after Jack Knife Ben passed away.
(25)…..The Pride of the West Jack Knife Ben Razor. This is the hardest of all razors to find with the cowboy roping the steer on the front. Marked Jack Knife Ben on the tang and Pride of the West etched on the blade.
(26)…..A nice condition Jack Knife Ben knife in excellent condition 4 ¼” in length with great bone handles and full blade
(27)…..A fantastic F. A. Wellman & Sons Livestock Commission wooden sign. An Omaha Stockyards sign probably from the forties or fifties. About 4 ½ ft. long and a foot in width. Painted white on black. As depicted in our flyer.

(29)…..Clay Robinson yardlong from 1916. By 1916 they had 11 offices. Over 100 years old by now.
(30)…..the 1964 Cattleman’s Holiday Sale catalog with 6 International Bull covers on the front. Featuring a story about Eileenmere 1665 “The All American Bull”
(32)…..a first edition book “The Illustrated History of the Union Stock Yards” by Joseph Grand. This edition is in excellent shape with business cards of cattle dealers in the back. 1896 edition.
(33)…..the super rare book 70 Years in the Chicago Stockyards by Theodore Herr. Printed by Vantage in 1968 Signed by Herr it relates his memories of stockyards stories since the beginning of the 20th century
(34)…..Story of Mercer..the story of the 1938 International Grand Champion put out by Firestone.
(35)…..Potts, Watkins, Walker National Stockyards, IL. Pig paperweight. From the 30’s.
(36)…..An 1893 purse from the Worlds Fair and also a souvenir of the Chicago Stockyards. This purse was made in Germany and handpainted shell probably from the Mississippi River.
(37)…..a 14 x 12” picture of Wood Brothers Livestock Commission Co. with the 1909 Highest Priced Range Steer Ever Sold on the Open Market. A true original antique with the 112 yr. old frame incl.
(38)….. a tip tray from the Nelson Morris meat packing Co. circa 1910. This 4 ¼” tray advertises the Supreme brand of Hams, Bacon, & Lard. Only 2 of these have showed up in 20 years.
(39)….The Evans, Snyder, & Buel co. matchsafe circa 1910. Capital $200,000. These little matchsafes are hard to come by and this one from an important co. This 2 ½ x 1 ½ “ safe is in excellent cond. For its age
